Rosie's Story

How a family tradition in Tanzania became Sugar Coated.
Like any treasured family recipe, some things are simply too good not to share. For me, sugar waxing has been part of life for as long as I can remember.
Growing up on the coast of Tanzania, it was something shared between the women around me. My mum passed it on to me, alongside my four sisters, three cousins and our friends.
A Tradition Shared Through Generations.
It became a ritual: sitting together, talking, helping one another and simply enjoying being together.
It was never a beauty trend or a treatment you booked. It was simply something passed down from generation to generation.
When I moved to Britain in 1987, I was surprised that hardly anyone had heard of it. I knew how effective it was, how gentle it could be on the skin, and how naturally it fitted into everyday life. So I continued to make it myself and sharing it with people around me.
''It was never a beauty trend or a treatment you booked. It was simply something passed down from generation to generation.''
From Passion to Profession.
Over the years, that passion grew into a career. I worked with The Body Shop before going on to create Aqua Natural, a professional sugaring formula that is still used in salons across the UK today.
Those years gave me the opportunity to refine my techniques, perfect my formulas and help thousands of people discover a gentler, more natural approach to hair removal.
By 2019, I could see there was still a gap in the market. Many people wanted the results of professional hair removal without the cost, inconvenience or exposure of regular salon appointments. More than that, they wanted something natural, kind to their skin and the environment, effective and easy to use.
I knew I needed to share what I had. Sugar Coated was born.
Natural, Effective & Kind to Skin.
Today the formula is 100% natural, vegan and cruelty free, water soluble and sustainably made, free from citric acid and resins.
More Than Hair Removal.
What I love most is seeing how people make it their own.
This is a tradition that dates back generations and is now being shared and loved across the UK.
Whether it becomes part of a self-care routine, a moment shared, or simply a more natural way to care for yourself, people are creating their own connection to a tradition that has been passed down through generations.
That means more to me than anything.
From the generations before my mum, from my mum to me, and from me to you... this is now yours to share.
With love,
Rosie xx
