3 Ways to Spot an Ethical and Eco-Friendly Hair Removal Product!

What to Look For

As consumers become better educated they have become more conscious of finding eco-friendly hair removal solutions. However, this isn’t always as straight forward as it seems. At Sugar Coated we keep it simple from our ingredients to our packaging.

There are a few elements of a product that make it eco-friendly. We at Sugar Coated are here to break it down for you:

  1. Ingredients – This is the first thing people look at when they are checking for the eco-friendly nature of a product. This can range from CFC’s to parabens to microbeads. But what we don’t notice is a lot of the resins and chemicals that we aren’t familiar with. The vast majority of hair removal products contain an array of chemicals and resins to either make them effective or to stabilise them. This goes for shaving gels, hair removal creams, and many waxes. Wax on its own is great and biodegradable but often they are mixed with so many other things that the product becomes difficult to breakdown, particularly with ready coated strips (they don’t sick there magically do they?). This is where Sugar Coated takes the lead. Our product is made from just sugar and water, no chemicals, no resins just two natural ingredients. This means it dissolves easily and quickly with a bit of warm water and makes it not only your friend in hair removal but also a friend to Mother Nature. To show you just how easy it is to dispose of for our sugar syrup, check out this video.

  1. Packaging – All our packaging is 100% recyclable. Our spatulas are made from wood and can be re-used, our strips are washable and re-usable (watch our video to see how). Our Soothing Mist and Pure Fine Talc bottles are made from HDPE 2, an easy to recycle material that is used to make; pens, drainage pipes, and doghouses among other things.

  1. Ethos – A company’s ethos adds a lot to make an eco-friendly hair removal product. Some companies fall into their products being environmentally friendly others seek to be. At Sugar StripEase, our company Aqua Natural has been cruelty-free and vegan since 1989. Our founders have made it part of the company mantra to live up to these standards and ensure that all of our products comply to be approved by Cruelty Free International and registered with The Vegan Society.

We all want to do what is best four bodies and for the environment. And by choosing products that are recyclable, biodegradable and natural we can achieve all things. So next time you are on the lookout for an eco-friendly hair removal product, check out the ingredients and know that Sugar Coated has always got your back.
